Cotswolds 2024

Location: Stow on the Wold

Date: 01 September 2024

Our usual September meeting was based at a small hotel just outside Stow on the Wold, a charming Cotswold town. We had taken all the rooms at the Number One Hotel whose staff looked after us very well. Almost forty people with eighteen vintage and veteran Renaults arrived on the Thursday evening in time for a welcome drink and dinner together.

The next morning, we set off through the country lanes to a coffee stop at the Hook Norton Brewery before heading for Moreton in the Marsh for a lunch stop in a large garden centre. We then headed off to the most unusual Sezincote House, a manor house with a definite Indian Raj feel about it.

On Saturday after a delightful drive passing though the attractive village of Ibury we visited the Classic Motor Hub for a coffee stop and to admire the collection of cars there for sale. Another country route brought us to Sudeley Castle in Winchcome, home at one time of Katharine Parr and where she is buried.

After another convivial evening together and an excellent dinner the event drew to a close with participants departing the next morning after breakfast.

Our next event will be our Winter gathering near Reading on February 2nd.
